Physiological effects of cancer

About cancer

Cancer is one of leading causes of death around the world. It is caused due to various genetic, lifestyle and environmental factors and one needs to be extra careful to stay away from anything that is carcinogenic. But still that does not guarantee a cancer free life. Cancer can occur in any age, for both males and females in any part of the body. Early detection, strength of will and prolonged treatment can help combat the effects of cancer and in some cases it can be totally cured. There are about 300 types of different cancers.

Treatment of cancer

There are various types of treatments available for cancer, which might help the patient either gain some more years to live or helps get rid of the disease for good. The type of treatment that a patient gets mostly depends on the severity and area of cancer. Most patients receive a combination of chemotherapy, radiotherapy, various medications and or, or surgery as a treatment. Along with these, he or she has to be on a strict diet, go for alternative after treatment methods such as acupuncture, yoga, meditation and herbal remedies.  All these combined with mental strength may help to alleviate the cancer from the body for good. For years, scientists have been trying to find a cure but till date, there is no proof that cancer can be cured completely.

Physiological effects

Cancer mostly occurs when the cells of an area in the body grows and multiplies uncontrollably, taking up nutrition from neighboring cells, hence weakening and finally destroying them. This gradually spreads from one part of the body to another destroying tissues and organs as it spreads. Cancer is a very dangerous disease and it is very difficult to actually determine how far the cancer has increased, as sometimes there are no early symptoms at all and by the time one is diagnosed with cancer, it spreads beyond repair. If you or any of your loved ones is a cancer patient then it is needless to say that it’s a very difficult time for you. But still one must never give up hope as every year there are several patients who are completely cancer free after long-term treatment and care.

-a person’s immunity goes down.

-different cancers have different effects mostly they being nausea, pain during urination, formation of lumps and weight loss.

-also in some people, cancer causes high and lingering fever and chills.

-people suffering from oral or anal cancer may experience presence of lumps, pimple like eruptions, bleeding gums or anal sphincters as well.

Physiological effects of treatment

Cancer treatment is very efficient these days. But the amount of stress one goes through physiologically, mentally and socially during and after the treatment is agonizing. Mainly the radiotherapy and chemotherapy is excruciating and people suffer from sever skin redness and unbearable burning sensations. Nausea is common as well. People are unable to drink even water without throwing up. Family members and loved ones always need to be with a cancer patient so that these unbearable times can be gone through in an easier way. Other effects are-

  • Decrease in level of sexual desire
  • Chronic prolonged pain and vomiting
  • Fever
  • Infertility in both men and women
  • Fatigue
  • Weakening of muscles and nervous tissues
  • Numbness
  • Osteoporosis
  • Frequent and uncontrolled urination
  • Formation of multiple cancers
  • Hair loss
  • Loss of teeth and bleeding gums
  • Extreme stress and depression

How to relive the pain and suffering

There are many alternative methods, which one can use to get rid of the pain or to be able to reduce it to a bearable level. Acupuncture has been suggested by doctors for cancer patients before and after treatments. It has wonderful effects on relieving pain from a human body and has been used for centuries now. Certain meditations can help get rid of stress hormones. Also, yoga and well balanced diet, which is free of acryl amines from fried foods, is suggested. In some cases through a combination of all these methods, a person can completely get rid of the painful side effects.  Cancer is completely curable in most cases if early detection is done and treatments start right away. After surgery if one follows all these alternative treatment methods and follows the necessary precautions, one can beat cancer for good. Family members should always encourage the person to be active, show interest in the patient’s achievements and stay next to him or her throughout the entire ordeal.
